The film takes place in a future where a failed attempt to stop global warming has created a new ice age. The only survivors are those who boarded a massive train, the Snowpiercer, which travels around the world on a never-ending track, a class system has developed on the train, with the wealthy elites living in luxury at the front of the train and the poor and downtrodden crammed into squalid conditions at the back. It is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette.
